Aside the spiritual aspects - what really sold the deal for me with this album was the idea of Smeagol / Gollum going fully tribal. After I stopped laughing, I enjoyed the atmosphere of this Nordic Ritual Folk.
Favorite track: Norupo.

I'm not a big keen on tribal drums, but comparison to Dead Can Dance brought my attention here. Indeed here's a lot of ancient world music, that must sound awesome live.
Favorite track: Othan.

With the epic new album Futha, the enigmatic HEILUNG return with their signature Amplified History. A counterbalance to their rugged debut Ofnir, Futha reveals a more melodic and beautiful side of the mysterious ensemble. Their primeval musique concrete blends ancient Germanic tongues, lush geophonic recordings (crackling fires, breaking ice), and the percussive thunder of archaic weaponry (swords, shields, arrows) into a reverential ceremonial experience. HEILUNG are in a class all their own, and Futha is an entrancing masterstroke of profound worldly music.
ARSTIDIR's moving new album 'Nivalis' unfolds with poise and purpose, revealing gossamer melodies and a stirring elegance that resonates long beyond listening. Heilung
Einar is lucky to have such talent, vision and ability, and I, half a world away, am lucky to live in times where the technology exists to be able to enjoy the fruits of his hard work. oppressed_peasant
As a fan of the film "Blade Runner" I can't love this album enough. It creates a dark, atmospheric world full of danger and intrigue, but infused with a kind of energy Ridley Scott's masterpiece lacks. Perturbator kicks you in the teeth with the pounding "Neo-Tokyo," lulls you into a false sense of security with "Femme Fatale," and "Venger," before finishing you off with the grand epic, "The Uncanny Valley." The entire album never misses a beat and leaves you wishing its world was real. theslimjim
